The PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education organized a two-day Regional Consultative Meeting on Vocational Education in Schools under Samagra Shiksha for Southern, Eastern and North-Eastern states through online mode on 23^rd and 24^th January 2023. Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, Chairperson, National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) was the Chief Guest in the inaugural session. State Officials of Directorate of School Education, Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, and State Council of Educational Research and Training from Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh along with Puducherry (Union Territory) shared the status of vocational education, best practices and challenges in vocational education in schools during the meeting. The concept of Skill on Wheels, Hub and Spoke Model, Skill Hub Initiative, Career Progression, Best Practices in Vocational Education were shared by the states. Representatives from Sector Skill Councils namely IT-ITes, Agriculture, Beauty and Wellness, Logistics, Telecommunication, Plumbing and Power shared their initiatives in VET. Dr. Maneesh Mishra, Executive Vice President, Strategy, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) was the Chief Guest in the concluding session. Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, PSSCIVE was the Chairperson and Dr. R. Ravichandran and Dr. V. K. Jain were the Programme Coordinators.
