Vocational Teachers Trg for Job Role of General Duty Assistant in Health Care Sector & Training on Vocational Pedagogy
A training programme for the vocational teachers teaching the vocational subject of General Duty Assistant in Grades 11 & 12 (Sector: Healthcare) was organised from 9th to 16th January, 2023. Thirty-two vocational teachers from the States attended the training programme. Dr. Abhijit Nayak, Coordinator of the programme informed the objectives of the training programme. Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director spoke about the various recommendations and suggestions of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 with regard to the reimagining of vocational education. He stated that the NEP 2020 has emphasised the need for integration of vocational education with general education. The emphasis is also laid on the implementation of 10 bagless days during which the children will be participating in pre-vocational activities and fun based activities, from Grades 6 to 8. In the technical sessions, the resource persons from health care sector took sessions on the various topics, namely role and responsibilities of General Duty Assistant, personal hygiene, outpatient and inpatient care, First Aid, disinfection and sterilisation, hospital emergency services, immunisation, biomedical waste management, etc. The faculty of the institute took sessions on different aspects of vocational pedagogy and employability skills. The participants were given assignments on development of session plans on the various components of vocational skills and employability skills, which included communication skills, self-management, ICT skills, entrepreneurship skills and green skills. Field visit was also organized during the programme.
